When the indoor pitch at The Trafford Training Centre, Carrington came up for renewal, they selected McArdle Sport-Tec to install Lano’s Profoot MXSi system, possibly the most advanced third generation system on the market.  Designed to replicate the highest possible standards in terms of playing characteristics and for these to last ad infinitum, the Profoot MXSi system is made using the latest in yarn technology, providing the perfect compliment between softness and durability.  “Profoot MXSi was only launched in November 2009 but building on the success of it’s predecessor Profoot MXS, it is fast becoming our most popular football system” says Rick Thorley, UK General Manager.  “Clients are becoming increasingly clued up on third generation surfaces and they seem to recognise that the Profoot MXSi system is one of the best ones out there”.

Lano Launch Interplay pitch for Hockey and Football

Sunday 1st February 2009 was a momentous day, both for the pupils of Cox Green School and Lano Sports. In front of the Mayor, the ribbon was cut on the pitch allowing the pupils access to the latest development in Lano’s product range, the Interplay system.

Recognising the need for a genuine hockey/football system to satisfy curriculum requirements within the school environment, Interplay passes both the 2008 FA Performance Standard and the FIH standard. Made using a unique blend of 2 tone crimped monofilament fibres, it not only satisfies the needs of both hockey and football but also offers added durability.

The difficulty for most clients when selecting a surface is knowing which system is right for their needs. Obviously when only one sport is to be satisfied, the choice becomes easier due to the specialist surfaces available. However, as one tries to combine sports, the decision becomes more complex. Compromises have to be made and performance expectations dampened. Football and hockey are notoriously difficult to combine as these sports require very different surfaces – football prefers a forgiving, longer and more open pile whilst hockey likes a firm, shorter and denser pile. Interplay brings these two sports together on one surface through use of its unique blend of curled fibres which form a covering on which the hockey ball can roll whilst allowing enough in-built flexibility to make the surface forgiving underfoot for the footballer.

At last the school has a genuine surface on which they can play and train both sports in full confidence knowing that their skills won’t be compromised by an underperforming playing surface.

2008 set new standards in our history. Huge expansion into new territories, record turnover in their established markets and increased investment in production facilities. Although 2008 will be a tough act to follow, 2009 is already taking shape with the introduction of new products and two new FIFA recommended pitches to their name.

The introduction of the new Interplay surface is already attracting a great amount of attention. Aimed at the schools market where curriculum hockey and football are taught, Interplay has been tested for the 2008 FA Performance Standard and the FIH hockey standard. Made using a unique blend of 2 tone monofilament fibres, it not only satisfies the needs of both hockey and football but also offers added durability. Recently installed at Holyport Manor School in Maidenhead by McArdle Sport Tec, this reference is proving a popular site for potential clients.

Also new for 2009 is the Hockey Revolution sand-dressed surface, a system designed to replicate the best nylon waterbased fields at a fraction of the cost. Unlike traditional fibrillating yarns, this strong non-fibrillating monofilament yarn doesn’t split and therefore doesn’t suffer from matting down. When tufted into a super-dense structure, this provides for fast ball roll without the danger of deterioration after several years usage.

In its first season as Lano’s leading football system, Profoot MXS achieved FIFA recommended fields in Belgium and France. This certainly places it firmly as a leading brand on the European market.

Finally 2008 saw the introduction of PU-backed carpet, an innovative backing arguably superior to the traditional latex backing used by Europe’s other leading manufacturers. PU was selected due to its superior quality issues as well as its benefits environmentally.

 

Recognising the need for an unfilled surface primarily suitable for football, Lano Sport recently launched their Multicup 4G system, made using a curled, two-tone monofilament yarn togheter withed a crimped nylon root zone.

 

The density of the soft polyethylene yarns in combination with the resilient root zone ensures consistency in the playing characteristics as well as comfort for the players themselves. When laid above a suitable shockpad, the resilience of the system is maintained in the lon term by the durable nylon root zone.

 

Added benefits include:

 

• Strong polyurethane backing ensures tuft lock, especially important with so many yarns retained in one stitch.
• Soft polyethylene two-tone yarn provides great aesthetics and additional player comfort.
• Nylon offers strong pile recovery and therefore is ideal to act as a root zone, replacing the need for any infill.
• System allows full use of normal studded football boots.
• No infill reduces amount of maintenance required.
• Shock pad increases softness underfoot, reduces compaction and improves ball behaviour.
• System equally applicable for multisport usage, including recreational hockey, netball and basketball.

Twelve months is a long time in football.
