Football fever in Wrexham: Council invests in two more 3G football pitches

2023-01-18

In March 2021, Wrexham Council stated they are continuing the roll out of ‘state of the art’ sporting facilities in a partnership with the FAW (Football Association of Wales). Council leader Mark Pritchard commented in an interview for Wrexham.com: “So far, we have spent £435,000, and the FAW have much funded it. We went on this journey some time ago to working in true partnership to get 3G pitches in every secondary school, and we are on course to complete that.” Cllr Phil Wynn, Lead Member for Education, added: “This is excellent news for the schools and for team sport in general. There’s no doubt that young people will benefit by exercising, helping to build their social skills and self-confidence and just having fun and enjoying themselves.” Moreover, the proposals are part of plans to establish Wrexham as the spiritual home of football in Wales by creating a football hub in each secondary school area in Wrexham.

In October 2022, the synthetic turf pitch refurbishments at Ysgol y Grango and Ysgol Rhosnesni were successfully completed and handed over to the schools. On both pitches Lano Sports Profoot Mastermax was installed. They were independently tested to FIFA standards as well and successfully passed. Thanks to the impeccable installation of our partner, Cleveland Land Services, we are sure the pitches will be a fantastic asset to both schools.
