Lano Sports supplies Olympic Village with artificial turf

2012-08-15

Artificial grass manufacturer Lano Sports has supplied a multi-purpose 3G Interplay surface for the football and hockey training facility within the Athlete's Village at the Olympic Park ahead of this year's games. Built by Spadeoak Construction, the innovative two-tone Interplay surface was specified because it satisfied the competitive needs of both FIFA, the international governing body of football, and FIH, the International Hockey Federation.

Created using a high-performance blend of crimped monofilament fibres, the artificial turf features a sand and rubber-filled surface to create an authentic look and feel. The two-tone yarn is curled to give full and multi-directional coverage to ensure excellent abrasion resistance and consistent ball roll properties.
"It is a great honour to supply artificial grass for this Olympic training facility," explains Rick Thorley, UK sales manager, Lano Sports. "Our artificial surfaces can be used for a variety of sports activities, and have been developed for intensive use throughout the year, even in extreme weather conditions when used outside. With optimum biomechanical properties, these surfaces can improve players' comfort and even reduce injuries.
"The fact that this particular training area will be used for both football and hockey proves that we have developed our artificial grass technology to provide a dual-purpose surface, and our quality has been recognised as Olympic standard. With fantastic levels of durability and resilience, the Lano Sports training pitch can be used after the games end too."
