A Perfect Match

St. Catherine's kids can play and romp on Lano Sports' finest

"Excellence and happiness." In everything the renowned St. Catherine's British School undertakes, those two words must be kept in harmony. So when the school's worn-out soccer pitches needed to be replaced, Lano Sports' Profoot MXSi TLT, one of the flagship turfs, proved to be the perfect match.

In northern Athens, near the elegant suburb of Kifissia, lies St. Catherine's British School. Originally founded in the fifties as an embassy school, it now teaches over 1,200 pupils from 54 nationalities, between 3 and 18 years old. At St. Catherine's, they're all firm believers in the Greek maxim that "a healthy mind goes hand in hand with a healthy body". Even their sports facilities deserve nothing less than the best.

 Top of the class

"After 12 years of good service, our soccer fields were in need of replacement," says Dino Theodosiou, business manager at St. Catherine's. "Here in Greece we have to deal with extreme climate conditions. The heat and drought in the summer, but also the heavy rainfall during winter, make it difficult to maintain our pitches. The main reason we decided to switch to artificial grass."

"The moment we saw Lano Sports' offer, there was no doubt we'd go for the Profoot MXSi TLT Bionomic. It just ticked all the boxes," Dino explains. "Why the Bionomic? One of our specific demands was an artificial turf that not only played like natural grass, but was also eco-friendly. The biological cork infill met those requests. Another plus: the infill remains cool at high temperatures. Very appreciated here in Athens."

Safe and stunning

St. Catherine's decided to install two new pitches: a small and a bigger one, with cross play lines. Today, the teaching staff and pupils enjoy the benefits of Lano Sports' artificial grass. "The turfs are absolutely stunning," Dino continues. "The unique twist lock technology makes sure our pitches keep their shape and greenness. Also, the turf's resilience is a lot safer to play on. The kids can indulge themselves to the full again and slide worry-free."

Ready for competition

"The staff, the kids, the parents... everyone talks about our new football fields. We're already thinking of hosting some upcoming school competitions. We can't wait to see if our visitors will be impressed as we are," says Dino laughing. "I'll never forget Lano Sports' team. Everything had to be perfect, and they just wouldn't leave. Or maybe they were up for a quick try-out?"
